1812 Signature Cocktail with Bourbon and Apricot Brandy

We’re so excited to be celebrating our 40th year in business that we created a special drink to toast to our Ruby Anniversary. In honor of our first cake- Brandied Apricot Cake- we started with apricot brandy and created a twist on the traditional Sidecar. We combined the brandy with Kentucky bourbon, a nod to our most recent fruitcake- Bourbon Fig. This cocktail is tasty and not too sweet. It features the sweet tart flavor of apricot and the depth of bourbon, while being easy to drink and enjoy. Cheers!

 

Ingredients:

1½  oz apricot brandy*
1½  oz Kentucky bourbon
1  oz Cointreau
Squeeze of fresh lemon to taste (approx. ½ oz)
Ice to shake


Directions:

In a cocktail shaker combine brandy, bourbon, Cointreau and lemon juice. Add ice and shake vigorously until well chilled, about 30 seconds. Strain into martini our coupe glass and enjoy!

Optional: Rub a lemon wedge around the rim of a chilled glass, then dip in sugar to lightly coat the rim.
 

*There are many varieties of apricot brandy that vary widely. We suggest Rothman & Winter Orchard Apricot Fruit Liqueur. It has good depth of flavor without being too sweet. We also tried Giffards Abricot de Roussillon- this brandy adds a touch more sweetness.
